Amber Ruffin moved to New York where she writes and performs on “Late Night with Seth Meyers.” Her sister Lacey stayed in their home town of Omaha, Nebraska. This book melds the comedic touch of Amber with the upsetting experiences of Lacey–one cringe-inducing story after another–about what’s been happening to Lacey because of the color of her skin. This book helps Black people know they’re not alone in how they experience the world, and White people hear frank truths about Black experiences without forcing people (except for the two authors) to relive their trauma.
