Purchase →This highly articulate, married mother of two provides an insider’s view of what it’s like to be one of the working poor, living hand to mouth. With frank honesty and humor, she explains why poor people don’t always behave the way middle-class people think they should.
Linda Tirado is funny, brash and pissed off. And she is real. She describes life working multiple jobs for low pay in fast-food restaurants. About how a car breaking down is an inconvenient nuisance to some, but a massive roadblock when you use it to get to work and you don’t have the money to fix it. She explains why people with little money would spend some of it on cigarettes. Tirado convinced me to withhold judgment, and expand compassion.
