Churchill: Trying to hear our ‘Braver Angels’

ALBANY — This could get ugly. Really ugly.

The impeachment inquiry announced Tuesday by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi threatens to throw gasoline on the raging inferno of partisanship. Red versus blue. MAGA-hats versus the #Resistance.

This isn’t an argument against the inquiry. I happen to think the transcript of the call between President Trump and Ukranian President Volodymyr Zelensky shows an abuse of power on Trump’s part, and Congress is obliged to investigate.

But as impeachment proceeds, and tribal anger inevitably builds, we might want to give a listen to the message being voiced by Bruce France and Eva Galvin.
