The Storm Over Gun Control Continues To Rage

This week . . . the polar storm over gun control continues to rage. But the “conversation” has drifted slightly away from arguments over proposals to more raw, tribalistic finger pointing and name calling. Left wing groups…the “slaughter lobby”…the Dems admit…the Right smears…the Republicans refuse…the Left hates…the Republicans want to destroy the power of workers…the Left is dominated by cesspits of racial and gender discrimination… Such is the state of the democratic process of resolving conflict in America today. When reading these examples, check the above list and ask yourself: regardless of whether you agree or disagree, is this really advancing an intelligent resolution through the persuasive, rational arguments of advocacy…or simply fueling the fire of conflict through the divisive, emotional manipulations of polarization?

Don’t they hate black people?’” she said. “That was my initial belief because that’s what I had heard about people who voted for Trump.” But she quickly realized she was wrong. During the first Braver Lens session, Mia was able to connect with conservatives in the group and recognize their points of commonality. “When we met, they showed their pictures, and explained their life stories, and I was able to see where our values overlap,” she said.
