Braver Angels Online Debates gather people from around the country to bring their unique perspectives to bear, in an in-depth discussion centered around a contentious topic. Unlike other debate formats, though, we value expressions of nuance and uncertainty, and many participants change their positions after—and during—our debates.

It’s a core part of the Braver Angels mission to help move the national conversation forward. We lead by example, featuring guests who advocate strongly for their perspectives without demonizing those who disagree.
Our special events include monthly Member Meetings with exciting featured guests, and American Speaker’s Forum, a new series of weekly events in partnership with the National Institute for Civil Discourse, featuring presentations from leading authorities on various issues, followed by open discussion and debate.Â
