Braver Angels: “Reuniting America” Documentary Screening (CO – State/First United Methodist Church of Grand Junction)

This is an in-person documentary viewing and discussion being held in Grand Junction, Colorado to introduce the local community to Braver Angels. Braver Angels: Reuniting America shows how the organization (originally known as Better Angels) began working to reduce political polarization in this country following the 2016 presidential election. The 50 minute film shows 8 Democratic-leaning voters and 8 Republican-leaning voters moving through a Braver Angels signature Red/Blue workshop in April 2017.
The participants move from initial skepticism to more profound understanding and empathy. You’ll get an inside look at how a Democratic voter went from threatening to cut off relationships with Trump voters to becoming dear friends with one—and how a Republican voter moved from disdaining progressives to taking co-leadership with one in a movement that now spans the country. Following the documentary viewing and brief discussion, interested participants will be invited to consider forming a local Braver Angels Alliance in Mesa County.
