Wanted: Braver Angels Musicians

Calling artists and bands of all genres, all backgrounds, and of course all political stripes! Do you know any musicians who are living out the Braver Angels way in their creative work or in their lives?

The music team is rolling out a new program, Artist of the Month (AOM), aimed at lifting up the voices of grassroots musicians who are building a house united—and we need your help to make it a success. Nominate yourself or someone else here.

What is an Artist of the Month? 🎸

Braver Angels has several music-centered initiatives, including periodic concert programming and a growing Facebook community of songwriters. The artist of the month program is intended to bring visibility to grassroots musicians who are currently using their artistry and platforms in the spirit of our organization’s mission.

Play a concert with other Braver Angels artists, and join the pool of musicians whose works are woven into our debates and workshops.
Have their music incorporated into the library of tunes used in Braver Angels workshops, debates, and other events.

A native of Boulder, Colorado, Mia didn’t know many Trump supporters—and she was nervous to engage with them. “I was like, ‘Don’t they hate women? Don’t they hate black people?’” she said. “That was my initial belief because that’s what I had heard about people who voted for Trump.” But she quickly realized she was wrong. During the first Braver Lens session, Mia was able to connect with conservatives in the group and recognize their points of commonality. “When we met, they showed their pictures, and explained their life stories, and I was able to see where our values overlap,” she said.
