This week . . . the polar storm over gun control continues to rage. But the “conversation” has drifted slightly away from arguments over proposals to more raw, tribalistic finger pointing and name calling. Left wing groups…the “slaughter lobby”…the Dems admit…the Right smears…the Republicans refuse…the Left hates…the Republicans want to destroy the power of workers…the Left is dominated by cesspits of racial and gender discrimination… Such is the state of the democratic process of resolving conflict in America today. When reading these examples, check the above list and ask yourself: regardless of whether you agree or disagree, is this really advancing an intelligent resolution through the persuasive, rational arguments of advocacy…or simply fueling the fire of conflict through the divisive, emotional manipulations of polarization?
