Values Conversation

Engaging in political discussions is vital for a healthy democracy, but it can be challenging. It’s easy to get frustrated listening to people say things that seem clearly wrong. If you wish difficult conversations weren’t so difficult, come to the Values Conversation Workshop!
In this guest workshop provided by Visionary Vocabularies and organized by the Braver Angels Madison Alliance, we will look at a real political issue and learn to pinpoint the outcomes people are concerned about. These concerns are the key to untangling the entire interaction.
After the workshop, you will be able to:
• Navigate disagreements calmly and smoothly
• Show other people will see you understand and appreciate their concerns, even if you don’t share their beliefs
• Establish not only mutual understanding and respect, but the foundation for meaningful common ground you can build on together.
