Braver Angels debates are back!
After more than a year and a half, the Sandhills Alliance is thrilled to host our first formal debate in quite some time—and we’re pulling out all the stops. We’re bringing in a special guest debate chair from Raleigh to guide us through a powerful, thought-provoking evening on one of the most urgent issues in American politics:
Resolved: Close the Border
This resolution speaks directly to concerns about national security, economic stability, and sovereignty—issues that matter deeply to many Americans. Whether you agree, disagree, or are somewhere in the middle, your voice is essential.
Come if you support stronger border enforcement. Come if you think closing the border is too extreme. Come if you’re still figuring it out.
How it works:
* During registration, you’ll be asked if you are Pro or Con the resolution. This will help us plan a balanced meeting.
* You can speak from the heart or just listen.
* The moderator ensures a welcoming, balanced, and respectful space.
* Let’s model what healthy political disagreement looks like.

Come join us for this debate, in which all participants from across the ideological spectrum will have an opportunity to speak and ask their questions. Tell us what you have experienced and what you think.
About this Event
You probably haven’t experienced anything like a Braver Angels Debate. This is a highly structured conversation in which a group of people think together, listen carefully to one another, and allow themselves to be touched and perhaps changed by each other’s ideas. When done well, everyone walks out a little closer to the truth, more aware of the validity in opposing views, and with tighter community relationships.
