Preparing for Inauguration Day the Braver Angels Way
December 10 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm EST
* Restricted Attendance: Intended audience is Unitarian Universalists but is open to all.
The Elections are over and time for Unitarian Universalists to engage the community in a civic renewal movement. As a liberal religious community there are reasons to be concerned, but there is also an opportunity to widen our circle and learn about those who voted differently. Braver Angels, a bipartisan nonprofit to unify America, gives us the tools to do that. This one-hour online event will spend 40 minutes to introduce Braver Angels followed by 20 minutes of Questions & Answer and the opportunity to registration for a January in-person workshop called “Being Blue in a Red Environment”.
January 20 is both Inauguration Day and the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday. How do Americans reconcile our differences about how to build a stronger Democratic Republic while we live our core UU values for social justice?
Life-long UU and Braver Angels Indiana State Coordinator, Miles Eddy, will explore how The Seven Principles of Unitarian Universalism lines up with the guidelines of “The Braver Angels Way” and how this can prepare us for Inauguration Day. He will then begin a statewide tour of Indiana Unitarian Universalist churches and fellowships to explore how “Blue” leaning UU’s can learn what it means to thrive in a “Red” leaning environment.
