Potluck, Movie, and Discussion – Considering Christian Nationalism: An evening of fellowship and sharing of views on a controversial subject.
Join Braver Angels and the local Quaker Meeting to watch a recent documentary on “Christian Nationalism” entitled “God & Country”. What does the label mean? How does Christian Nationalism relate to faith and politics? Is it a threat to democracy or a hopeful movement of national restoration? Or just another football in the media game between extreme left and right? What is the impact on Christian evangelical communities, and vice versa?
This movie offers only one perspective, and we would like to hear yours. We hope that people who know little about Christian Nationalism as well as Christian Nationalists attend so that all can learn about this movement and some of the distinctions and nuances. Our purpose is not to debate or convince, but to share our individual understandings and explore stereotypes we hear through the media.
The evening schedule will be:
6pm – Potluck Supper. Please bring something to share. This will be an opportunity for the different communities to get to know each other.
7pm – Film Showing. Join us to watch the film.
8:30pm – Short Discussion. After the film we look forward to a 30 minute discussion of what people learned and Q&A.
