There’s nothing like a good story to bring people closer together. This month, Central/Eastern Washington Alliance will be hosting a virtual gathering for a special kind of storytelling. The 20 members and friends of Braver Angels who directly participate will be reading their personal statements of “This I Believe”, modeled after the Edward R Morrow broadcast of the same name first aired back in 1952. Others who register for the event will serve as witnesses, offering no comment, whether of agreement or criticism. This will be a safe space for us to get to know each other beyond the “…and what do you do for a living?” level.
Each reading will last no more than 3 minutes. These mini-essays will be positive statements of a personal nature, describing true events or opinions but avoiding religious or political dogma, preaching, or editorializing. Each will describe just one belief that is important to the speaker.
