Civil Disobedience and The Limits of Protest
May 7 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm EDT
Activism today feels more urgent and more confrontational, with a growing number of Americans – especially among younger generations – open to the idea that political violence may be justified. Frustration with institutions, the speed of modern crises, and a sense that traditional methods are too slow are all reshaping how people push for change.
This raises a deeper question. Martin Luther King Jr. championed nonviolence not just as a moral ideal, but as an effective strategy – yet even in his time, voices like Malcolm X challenged its limits. Are we now seeing a necessary evolution in activism, or a dangerous drift? In this moment, is nonviolence still the most effective path and the higher moral ground or has the world changed in ways that demand something different?
