Faith and Polarization: A Participatory Afternoon (In-Person)

10/29/2023 @ 3:00 pm - 5:30 pm EDT

Host Organization: Braver Angels DC Alliance
Partner Org(s): Rumi Forum, the Jewish-Islamic Dialogue Society of Washington (JIDS), and Kol Ami: Northern Virginia Reconstructionist Community
State/Region: DC
Setting: In-person

Join the Braver Angels DC Alliance for an afternoon of exploring faith and polarization. The event will be kicked off with introductory speakers, followed by one-on-one conversations, small group discussions, and a return to the plenary session for an action-oriented conclusion to the event.

Some questions we’ll consider are as follows:

– Just what roles does faith play as to the political and cultural schisms that mar our society? Is it a cause of the problem? Or is it a potential antidote?

– What can we, as people of faith or members of faith communities, do to confront these issues?

This event is jointly sponsored by the Braver Angels DC Alliance, the Rumi Forum, the Jewish-Islamic Dialogue Society of Washington (JIDS), and Kol Ami: Northern Virginia Reconstructionist Community.

The two introductory speakers are Ibrahim Anli, Executive Director, Rumi Forum and a member of the Braver Angels Scholars Council; and Sofi Hersher Andorsky, Vice President, Strategy and Communications, the Jewish Partnership for Democracy.
