Common Ground: Immigration

March 28 @ 12:30 pm - 5:30 pm EDT

Host Organization: Braver Angels Alliance of Washtenaw County
State/Region: MI
Setting: In-person
About this event

Equal numbers of Reds and Blues take a deep dive into an issue to find joint agreements. Participants will work hard to find common ground.

Note: Free registration can be accessed using Promo Code “Braver”.

Join us for an in-person Common Ground Workshop on immigration, part of Braver Angels’ national effort to bring citizens together across differences on key public issues. Because this workshop connects to ongoing conversations in Rep. Debbie Dingell’s district, we are prioritizing participants who live in her constituency.

Two Ways to Engage in This Workshop

  • Participant – take part directly in the structured, interactive workshop. You’ll work in small groups, share your own views and experiences, and engage in guided exercises designed to identify common values, concerns, and possible solutions with people from the “other side”. Participants identify as either “red” (conservative-leaning) or “blue” (liberal-leaning), and we aim for a balanced group of 4-8 per side.
  • Observer – attend to watch the process without joining the structured exercises. You’ll listen in as red-leaning and blue-leaning participants move through the guided conversations, exploring shared values, concerns, and possible solutions. This role is ideal for those who want to understand the workshop model, see the dialogue in action, or support the event without actively participating. Observers may be invited to step in if a participant spot opens.

About the Common Ground Workshop

This workshop brings together equal numbers of convservatives and liberals for a deep dive into a single issue. Through guided exercises, participants identify shared values, areas of agreement, and potential next steps that can inform future conversations or joint actions.

Who Should Attend
