Dignity Index Workshop

The creators of The Dignity Index have identified a key driver of the divisions in our country: contempt. Contempt drives us apart, while dignity brings us together. The Dignity Index was created to show us the difference.
This workshop is a 90-minute interactive training session that introduces The Dignity Index, an eight-point scale that measures the contempt or dignity reflected in the language we encounter – or use – everyday. Lower scores reflect divisive language while higher scores reflect language grounded in dignity. Ultimately, the Dignity Index is a mirror to help each of us identify our own patterns of contempt.
In this workshop, participants will practice the index by analyzing everyday conversations or public remarks, then learn de-escalation skills or ‘dignity phrases’ to reduce conflict in their own exchanges.
