Film Discussion on AI
10/25/2025 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm MDT
Watch a movie on your own, then attend a discussion of it made richer by the wide variety of viewpoints that participants hold.
How much should we allow AI to entwine into our daily lives? Tech advancements have led many to become increasingly reliant on AI as professional and personal assistants, life coaches, confidantes and for some even friends or romantic companions. Is it beneficial for OpenAI models to evolve without constraint to technologically replicate and simulate human emotional connections as thoroughly and accurately as possible, or should there be limits on human-AI bonds?
Our feature film, Her (2h 6m), is a 2013 production about a lonely writer who forms a deep personal bond with his AI operating system. Her is available to buy or rent from Amazon Prime Video, YouTube, Apple TV, Google TV and other streaming services.
12 years ago, some viewed Her as aspirational science fiction, while others saw it as a cautionary tale.
Please watch Her in advance and come prepared to discuss.
