Purchase âIn his 2022 book Stolen Focus, Johann Hari, investigative journalist, describes how the algorithms used on social media to keep people looking at their screens and clicking for more of the same are designed to emphasize the most outrageous and anger-producing material—not because the designers believe the outrageous things but because human nature is drawn to the negative and the designers are designing for attention on the screen. May be similar to Hype, which I haven’t read.
