This book does a great job of challenging the idea that an individual’s success is all about his or her effort, willpower and personal talent.  It provides a lot of insight into the advantages many of us have that we have no awareness of.  Many of the concepts are helpful for battling bias.  I found the information about how the following information influences our destiny to be particularly compelling: the places our grandparents and great grandparents immigrated from, the part of the United States we were raised in, our ancestors’ religion and our birth dates.
