Place a “Don’t Eclipse America” Braver Angels yard sign on your lawn to support depolarizing during the April 8, 2024 total solar eclipse across 12 states. Each “ticket” represents one yard sign out of 100 for each campaign.

This pilot program is run by Indianan State Coordinators Miles Eddy and William Ellis to train Red/Blue field leaders to manage placing 100 Braver Angels yard signs along high-traffic areas of the total solar eclipse on April 8, 2024.

FROM DON

Braver Angels has been in existence for only a few years, but in terms of our main goal — depolarizing the country — it feels like it’s been a very long time! It’s been said that the United States have been disuniting in recent years, and it seems like a symptom of that appears in the news almost every day. Indiana is no different from the rest of the country. I live in Bloomington, the center of Braver Angels activity in Indiana.

Many people on both the Left and the Right are convinced these days that many people on the other side are either stupid or just don’t care about the country; either way, talking to them is a waste of time. But I’ve found talking to people on the other side incredibly enlightening: so often they view things in a way that makes sense but which never would have occurred to me! I’m firmly convinced that the overwhelming majority of people on both “sides” of the political spectrum are reasonably intelligent people of good will who sincerely want the best for the country. If you’re a Hoosier, welcome, and please give Braver Angels a chance to enlighten you.

With Malice Toward None

The days after the election could begin a dark time of polarization in the land—unless we act together to make it otherwise.  That’s where the With Malice Toward None initiative comes in. The goal is to create a space for people to deal with their emotions (positive and negative), to build our capacities for working together to address our common challenges, and to commit ourselves to a renewed citizenship.  What to learn more?   Click HERE.

Hold America Together

We are united by our commitment to keep our country together!  Hold America Together groups are small groups of 5-12 friends and neighbors that individual Americans can organize on their own now and that will be activated in the event of an election emergency.  Learn More.

In The News

MSNBC – Republican and Democrat voters look to overcome differences at unique program (March 22, 2018, Hallie Jackson)

A group of voters in Indiana, both Republican and Democrat, volunteered to participate in a unique self-evaluation workshop with a group called Better Angels. The goal is finding common ground. “I think it’s hard to get things done as a country if we’re just trying to better ourselves over the other group and win,“ concluded one voter.

Why fill out the “Lean Red/Blue” field?  Braver Angels is all about bringing together people on the opposite side of the political divide, and our flagship Red/Blue workshop requires equal numbers of Reds and Blues. Besides, we want to know how well we’re doing at reaching left-leaning and right-leaning people. So please consider filling in “Red” or “Blue”. But you can also say “Other”, or just leave it blank!
