The Trump Prosecutions: Witch Hunt or Equal Justice?

The four separate criminal prosecutions of former President Donald Trump are unparalleled in American history. Many people believe the cases demonstrate that no one is above the law. Many others believe they constitute a partisan effort to hobble a presidential candidate with spurious trials. The question of presidential immunity is already pending before the Supreme Court.
Please join the Silicon Valley Braver Angels for a free, online, moderated discussion of this divisive topic. It’s an opportunity to state your own views and to listen to what other people think. After the 90-minute formal event, we will provide another 30 minutes of “open mic” if you still have points to cover. The following questions are offered to stimulate discussion:
• In your view, are these prosecutions legitimate workings of the justice system or merely attempts to disqualify Trump? Are some of the cases stronger than others?
• What allowance, if any, should be made in the proceedings for the fact that Trump is in the middle of a presidential election campaign?
• What is your personal take on the question of presidential immunity from later prosecutions?
• Do you feel that a conviction in a particular case would cause Trump voters to reconsider?
• What unforeseen effects might these prosecutions have on the future of American politics?
