How Do We Find Community in Our Differences? – Skills for Disagreeing Better
September 25 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm CDT
* Local Focus: Winona County, MN
Note: This event is to be attended in person.
In a time when politics can so easily drive us apart, how do we build stronger communities that bring us together? We can learn to disagree better in polarized times, which means accurately seeing where we differ and where we share common ground. This interactive workshop invites people from across the political spectrum to come together for honest conversation, fresh perspectives, and practical skills for navigating our differences.
Through a mix of large- and small-group discussions, we’ll explore how polarization shapes our families, neighborhoods, and nation—and discover what each of us can do to bridge divides and strengthen the ties that hold us together.
Goals
- More understanding of the values and concerns of people who differ from you politically
- Better skills for listening in a way so that the other person feels heard
- Better skills for sharing viewpoints in a way the other person might hear — even if they disagree
