Beyond the Divide: Understanding the Values Behind our Differences

Join us for a thoughtful and engaging evening with Martin Carcasson, Ph.D., founder and director of the Center for Public Deliberation, as we explore one of the most important and often overlooked dimensions of our public conversations: values.

In today’s polarized environment, many of our toughest issues aren’t simply about facts. They are rooted in deeply held values such as freedom, fairness, security, and community. These values often exist in tension, and how we prioritize them shapes how we see problems and what solutions we support.

Dr. Carcasson will introduce the concept of “wicked problems” and help us better understand why so many of today’s challenges feel so complex and hard to solve. More importantly, he will guide us in learning how to move beyond surface-level disagreements to uncover the underlying values that drive our perspectives.

The evening will include:
