Courageous Conversations: Braver Angels Skills and Practice

Braver Angels of the Central Coast embraces courageous conversation. In this free 3-hour workshop, you will learn the amazing LAPPC skills that can make it possible to have good, connecting, conversations even across differences of opinion or differences of beliefs. Our core values embody Abraham Lincoln’s dedication to listening to those who disagreed with him. You’ll learn the skill of listening in a way that allows you to understand much more. You will be able to connect more in a way that makes it possible for you to share your own perspective, and for your views to be heard. It turns out that disagreement is fertile ground for connection. So whether it is the partisan divide within your family or the outrage cycle of news, this event will be helpful in finding ways to step out of outrage and step across toward connection, and have discussions on topics that matter to all of us.
This event inspired, by the presentation by our CEO Maury Giles and our subsequent exploration of becoming more courageous. This event is in response to your request for opportunities to practice conversation with others…and others who may think a little differently from your own views. We heard also that you want more fun! This workshop is designed to be light hearted. This will be fun event, to which you can feel comfortable inviting a friend or neighbor; especially one who may have a difference background from you or a different point of view.
