From a series of events bridging the worlds of ideas and depolarization, hosted by Braver Angels and friends, “America’s Public Forum.”

In the past decade, numerous thinkers and activists have sounded the alarm of increasing rates of suicide, addiction, and depression among ever-growing numbers of Americans. Others have noted long-term declines in family, in religious faith, in civic participation, and other longstanding institutions of civil society. What has been called the ‘loneliness epidemic’ has only worsened in the unique and terrible conditions of the COVID-19 pandemic. And amid it all, our politics and public life has grown only more and more polarized and divided. What could the old-school virtue of friendship possibly have to say in this depth of social crisis?

Join MC John Wood Jr. and an old friend of Braver Angels, Alexandra Hudson, for a special America’s Public Forum event, a wide-ranging conversation on the the centrality of friendship– personal or civic, online or in-person, chosen or accidental– in addressing, at least, the great social crisis of our times, and perhaps even the great political questions of our age. Co-hosted by Braver Angels and Civic Renaissance.
