1776-2026: The Declaration Then, Now, and in the Future

Join us for this event to bring Americans together across political differences to engage thoughtfully with the Declaration of Independence. Using this shared civic text, we will explore its ideals, tensions, and enduring relevance without debate or persuasion.
This meeting emphasizes understanding over agreement and models Braver Angels’ approach to courageous citizenship during America’s 250th anniversary.

Desired Outcomes
By the end of this 90-minute meeting, participants will:
● Engage the Declaration of Independence as a living civic document
● Better understand how fellow citizens interpret founding ideals differently—and why
● Increase confidence in discussing foundational civic ideas across disagreement
● Leave with a renewed sense of shared ownership of the American experiment
