Braver Angels Announces State of the Union Address on January 31st
Braver Angels to host historic State of the Union event in Washington D.C.; address to be live-streamed across the country
Washington, D.C. — On January 31st at 9pm EST, Braver Angels will deliver its inaugural State of the Union address to highlight a new path forward for America — one that builds on what unites us, not what divides us.
With the nation’s politics gripped by partisanship and paralysis — and the breakdown in communication so severe — Braver Angels will gather 100 liberals and conservatives in the nation’s capital to build trust instead of animosity, discover common ground, and feel better about the future of our country.
On January 31st, Braver Angels will demonstrate what it looks like when people who strongly disagree come together to talk with — rather than simply at or about — one another.
The event is open press.Ā Interested members of the press should contactĀ ciaran@better-angels.orgĀ for details.
The event will be live streamed onĀ braverangels.orgĀ and Braver Angels’Ā Facebook pageĀ to hundreds of watch parties and thousands of Braver Angels members nationwide.
The live stream will begin at 8:30pm ET, with a pre-show from 8:30pm – 9pm. Braver Angels President David Blankenhorn will deliver the State of the Union Address at 9pm ET.
“Over the past 18 months, Braver Angels has brought together thousands of liberals and conservatives to build a national citizens’ movement to depolarize America,” said David Blankenhorn. “On January 31st, we’ll show the nation that We The People can actually address the state of our Union — not just the state of our divisiveness.”
People will gather for the State of the Union in living rooms across the country with their families, friends, and neighbors to watch the event and build the Braver Angels movement to unite red and blue Americas into a working alliance to influence the direction of our nation. Americans can sign up to host a watch party atĀ braverangels.org/SOTU.
Braver Angels has conducted over 300 workshops in more than 35 states. The nonprofit has over 6,000 dues paying members — with members in all 50 states — and regional red/blue alliances that are expanding its organizing work on the ground. See recent press inĀ ABC Nightline,Ā The Atlantic, andĀ The Federalist.
Braver Angels is half red and half blue, from its leadership, staff, and board of directors, to its workshop participants across the country.
