Convention - FAQs - Braver Angels

Frequently Asked Questions

Registration/Check-In will start at 12pm on Thursday, June 27th. There will be programs and activities to experience throughout the afternoon, such as the College Debates & Discourse Symposium. Dinner will then begin at 5:00, and the Opening Plenary will start at 6:30pm.

The Convention will conclude on Saturday night, June 29th, with a Closing Night Concert, and a few post-convention events will be held on the morning of June 30th. We encourage you to stay the night on Saturday and check-out Sunday morning, June 30th.

All who apply and are accepted to the Convention are called delegates. Some delegates will come from Braver Angels local alliances and other Braver Angels leadership bodies. Others will come as representatives of civic, business, religious, service, educational, and other local and national organizations. Some will even be students from colleges, universities, and trade schools from all across the country.

Delegates will get to participate in four days of activities and events, beginning with an Opening Plenary on Wednesday, July 5, at 7:00 pm and conclude with a Concert on the evening of Saturday, July 8.

Delegates will have a large variety of events and activities to choose from throughout the Convention.

Everyone must apply to attend and not all applications will be accepted. Braver Angels does it this way for three reasons:

1. To ensure an equal balance of conservatives, progressives, and independents. This is why we ask you to indicate your political leaning when you register.

2. To ensure participation from many organizations.

3. To have a convention consisting of leaders first and foremost.

Those whose applications are accepted are called delegates. Some delegates will come from Braver Angels local alliances and other Braver Angels leadership bodies. Others will come as representatives of civic, business, religious, service, educational, and other local and national groups from across the country.

There is! At the moment, we have an imbalance of Blue/Red applications and we are doing our best to invite everyone while maintaining political balance. Please know that as slots open up, we hope to extend an invitation to you. If you are able to find a red co-applicant, we can certainly invite you both.

Basic registration is $550. It covers food, lodging on campus for four nights, parking, use of gym facilities, shared rides to and from airports and train stations, and participation in all convention activities.

For commuters who aren’t using accommodations offered by the College, registration is $400.

For students, registration is $250.

If you require financial assistance to attend the convention, you can apply for scholarship, and we will be able to in part or fully cover the cost of your registration if you are determined to have financial need.

If you’re looking for rides from the nearby airports – Chicago International and Milwaukee International – we recommend checking out the CoachUSA shuttles! They have airport shuttles scheduled throughout the day that go directly to Kenosha, and will be an easy way to get to our Convention.
If you’re coming from Milwaukee/Mitchell airport, the CoachUSA shuttle goes directly to campus.
If you’re coming from Chicago/O’Hare international, the CoachUSA shuttle will drop you off at the Kenosha Brat Stop. We will then have shuttles that will pick you up and take you to campus.

Other options we’d recommend are some form of carpooling, whether it be with other delegates sharing an Uber, or driving with another delegate who is renting a car to travel to the convention.

You can check the status of your application on your Convention Hub.

For the 27th – 29th, we will be providing housing as part of the initial registration fee for non-commuter participants of the convention. However, you will have to pay an additional $80 at the check-in desk if you wish to stay on Wednesday, the 26th.

A general schedule is present on this page under “Daily Agenda”. Breakouts for each day and descriptions of each of them can be found under “Breakouts”. On the Whova app, you will be able to view and register for individual breakouts, and have a more personalized schedule to view.
