Navigating Tense Group Conversations Across the Political Divide

December 21 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm EST

Host Organization: BA National - Workshops
Setting: Online

** This event is open to the media upon approval. Send requests to press@braverangels.org
In this one-of-a-kind session, Braver Angels co-founder and family therapist Bill Doherty, Ph.D., will provide strategies and practical skills for navigating high-tension group settings, especially when you find yourself in the political minority or standing alone.
You’ll learn how to avoid becoming a victim of negative group dynamics by choosing when to engage and when to politely step back. And when you do feel the need to speak, Bill will teach you how to do so without defensiveness, so your words open the door to constructive engagement rather than escalating conflict.
Additionally, you’ll discover how to intervene when someone on the other side of the political divide is subjected to ridicule or hostility by those who share your views. In short, this session will equip you to be a Braver Angel for yourself and others in challenging group settings.
As we approach the new year, let’s come together and take a meaningful steps toward healing and unity.
